FLIPPING THE MIND With The Power of Positive Mantra

A student of mine was telling me about an experience she had, recently. She was feeling down about something relating to her Dad. Often times when we regret something it’s because a realization about that situation has come too late, and hence, we regret what we did not do; what we missed out on, or what mistakes we made at the time. In this case, this woman remembered an angry moment with her dad and she regretted not telling him off and it began a whole series of emotions for her.

Thousands of thoughts fly through the mind with each blink of the eye, but they only take hold if we grab on to them and back them with emotion. Soon she found herself following a train of thought back into her past, having a non-existent argument with her dad. Suddenly she realized that this was all happening inside her mind. What was happening around her in the present moment was completely different from where her mind was– off in some non-existent landscape of the mind re-creating a scenario from the past. All of us do this. We grab onto a thought or even an assumption that may have never even happened and we go off in our minds, creating situations that don’t even exist, sparked by something that happened in the past. Holding The Space: The Power of Positive Mantra

I went to this acting workshop once and the guys running it were real guys of faith. All of them working actors. They spoke of having a positive attitude among many other concepts for being successful in such an erratic profession as acting. I noticed one guy, whenever you asked him how he was, he’d say: “I’m blessed, brother.” However, the look in his eyes was fear, like he didn’t believe it, but rather he was hoping somehow it would be true as soon as possible. Even with his apparent success, he was there with his partners giving this workshop to remind himself of all the things that were working in his life. You could tell he believed them all, but the look in his eyes was fear– as though he didn’t actually feel it. What he was doing was holding the space with his mantra: “I’m blessed, brother.” (more…)

Positivity and The Law of Attraction: Do Not Expect Delays.

Writing is easy for me. I can say that now. I can embrace it. There was a time when if the writing came too easy I’d be waiting for the other shoe to drop. I wouldn’t accept that perhaps there was something that was easy; something that I could do with little or no struggle. Basically, I was taught that for something to be won, it must be hard won. Wahe Guru, a little meaning behind the yoga of sound

*Wahe (Wha-hay) means “Wow” or “Ecstacy.” It’s sort of an exclamation of the joy of existence. Guru (goo-roo) means that force which brings one from darkness into light.

‘Gu’ means darkness and ‘Ru’ means light. So Gu-Ru is basically the transformation from dark to light, which is why we have associated the word with ‘enlightened’ or masterful individuals. We call someone a ‘guru’ when they have mastered their profession or area of expertise. However these words are so much more than simply a title or an idea. By speaking or chanting the word one creates the sound vibration, which awakens the force of the guru in all of us. Some consider this the higher self. It’s the perfect and complete version of yourself informing you in every moment. Speaking the words Wahe Guru will create a vibration which will dispel darkness from you and bring you into the light of your Soul. Another way of looking at it is that chanting the mantra is like dialing a phone number to your higher self. (more…)

The Long Time Sun

Thought while meditating this morning: The sun shines on us all equally. It warms us equally. It casts our shadows equally. We should light upon all we meet like the sun in the heavens, equally and without care or judgement.

After thinking about that, it gave me new understanding of the song “Long Time Sunshine,” an Irish Folk Song which is used to close most Kundalini Yoga classes.

May the long time sun shine upon you.
All love surround you.
And the pure light, within you.
Guide your way on…
Guide your way on…
Guide your way on.
