The Law of Success: Using the Power of Spirit to Create Health, Prosperity, and HappinessI have this little book called The Law of Success by Parmahansa Yogananda and it’s the greatest bit of wisdom. Very to the point, it’s multi-layered in its depth. The following is a great excerpt about Destiny. Enjoy

YOU CAN CONTROL DESTINY

Mind is the creator of everything. You should therefore guide it to create only good. If you cling to a certian thought with dynamic will power, it finally assumes a tangible outward form. Whe you are able to emply your will always for constructive purposes, you become the controller of your destiny.

I have just mentioned three important ways to make your will dynamic:

  1. Choose a simple task or accomplishment that you have never mastered and determine to succeed with it;
  2. Be sure you have chosen something constructive and feasible, then refuse to consider failure;
  3. Concentrate on a single purpose, using all your abilities and opportunities to forward it.

But you should always be sure, within the calm region of your inner Self, that what you want is right for you to have, and in accord with God’s purposes. You can then use all the force of your will to accomplish your object; keeping your mind, however, centered on the thought of God– the Source of all power and all accomplishment.

And that, friends, is one way to do it. Good Luck.

Kundalini Yoga: The Non-Denominational Experience of the Soul

I’ve often seen people balk at kundalini yoga because they aren’t sure how it would sit with their religious beliefs. I tell people that Kundalini Yoga is the real time experience of everything religion promises or talks about with regard to the spirit– or God. Kundalini Yoga is the real-time experience of the soul of the human being, in the present moment. The exercises and breath coupled with sound current causes a vibration which raises the person’s frequency of consciousness higher. This higher vibration simply makes you feel good, no matter how you define it.

Spanish christ block modifiedYou can take God completely out of it if you want, it doesn’t matter. You can come from a purely medical perspective if you like. Breath and movement and sound stimulating the internal organs, the endocrine (glandular) system, the nervous system, and the electromagnetic field of the brain, causing greater relaxation from stress and better overall health.  You can approach it from pure science if you like. Sub-Atomic particles of matter vibrating at higher and higher frequencies, emitting light.  Everyone likes a person that’s bright.  No matter how you slice it, yoga, particularly Kundalini Yoga is universal. It simply makes you feel good.

It doesn’t matter what belief system you subscribe to- Kundalini Yoga will make you a more devout practitioner of your faith because in Kundalini Yoga, you actually feel the energy that created you and therefore you understand the structure of your religion and belief system even more– no matter what the flavor or denomination. The practice of kundalini brings you into harmony with your soul and from that you intuitively connect with your highest good and in doing so you will see the symbols of your particular faith and religion much more clearly.

Before Kundalini Yoga, I had been raised Catholic and then Protestant, Christian. I had fallen away from these religions because they weren’t satisfying to me. After practicing yoga I came to understand Christianity even more than when I had participated in it. So have no fear, Kundalini Yoga is non-denominational and is not faith based. It is for everyone.

FLIPPING THE MIND With The Power of Positive Mantra

A student of mine was telling me about an experience she had, recently. She was feeling down about something relating to her Dad. Often times when we regret something it’s because a realization about that situation has come too late, and hence, we regret what we did not do; what we missed out on, or what mistakes we made at the time. In this case, this woman remembered an angry moment with her dad and she regretted not telling him off and it began a whole series of emotions for her.

Thousands of thoughts fly through the mind with each blink of the eye, but they only take hold if we grab on to them and back them with emotion. Soon she found herself following a train of thought back into her past, having a non-existent argument with her dad. Suddenly she realized that this was all happening inside her mind. What was happening around her in the present moment was completely different from where her mind was– off in some non-existent landscape of the mind re-creating a scenario from the past. All of us do this. We grab onto a thought or even an assumption that may have never even happened and we go off in our minds, creating situations that don’t even exist, sparked by something that happened in the past. Wahe Guru, a little meaning behind the yoga of sound

*Wahe (Wha-hay) means “Wow” or “Ecstacy.” It’s sort of an exclamation of the joy of existence. Guru (goo-roo) means that force which brings one from darkness into light.

‘Gu’ means darkness and ‘Ru’ means light. So Gu-Ru is basically the transformation from dark to light, which is why we have associated the word with ‘enlightened’ or masterful individuals. We call someone a ‘guru’ when they have mastered their profession or area of expertise. However these words are so much more than simply a title or an idea. By speaking or chanting the word one creates the sound vibration, which awakens the force of the guru in all of us. Some consider this the higher self. It’s the perfect and complete version of yourself informing you in every moment. Speaking the words Wahe Guru will create a vibration which will dispel darkness from you and bring you into the light of your Soul. Another way of looking at it is that chanting the mantra is like dialing a phone number to your higher self. (more…)

Can A Human Be Greater than God?

How can I believe in God when just last week I got my tongue caught in the roller of an electric typewriter? Woody Allen,

The soul comes through the human to experience duality, the world of good and evil, opposites. If God is so great, how can there be so much suffering?

One of my yoga teachers was telling a story about someone in their family who, while meditating went to the place beyond time and space where souls decide to come into this life. She related that these souls are fighting for a chance at human life. Being human is so great that souls fight to come here to earth and angels are jealous of humans because of all they are able to experience. Yet, when we get here, each of us suffers. That makes no sense. Life is cloaked in suffering. Out in the world of duality, the world of opposites, we bounce between good and evil and we suffer. Why on earth would a soul want to come into that? Perhaps it is to become more powerful than God. (more…)

The Paradox of Worship

When you worship, when you bow, you’re bowing to your own soul potential within. This is why idols and graven images are so dangerous. The ego wants to classify and keep everything on the outside, to keep everything limited and manageable. So a statue of a God, pick one, is a trap because giving that God form allows the human being to stop at that form or image and think, “Oh, okay, that’s a God, that’s not me.” It gives concrete form to the God and then everything stops dead in it’s tracks and suffering begins. Suffering begins because the God is now outside you, separate from you and depending upon the myriad of beliefs that were fed you on the way up, you buy into linear time and limited space and think, perhaps “Later I will meet this God in death.” (more…)

The Paradox Of The Common Soul

A Word About The Common Soul

We live in a dual world. Everywhere you look outside there are opposites and polarity. Up and down, hot and cold, in and out, love and hate and the list goes on. In fact of the many things out there, it’s hard not to find an opposite in something else. It’s simply how our world works out there. As long as you’re working in that world out there you’re in the garden of good an evil. But even in this world of opposites there are clues to the one-ness that is our soul’s connection to the common, universal soul.

Paradoxes are everywhere in life. Paradoxes are these subtle clues in the world to wake us out of the dream or illusion that everything is black and white duality. A paradox is when you’ve got two things that seem to conflict, but could possibly both be true at the same time. You see what this does? It breaks down the dual nature of something. One of the most famous paradoxes is that old riddle: “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” I remember my aunts and uncles teasing me with this as a child and it was a big laugh, but it’s designed to cause you to question your own origins and what you’re doing here.
