Writing is easy for me. I can say that now. I can embrace it. There was a time when if the writing came too easy I’d be waiting for the other shoe to drop. I wouldn’t accept that perhaps there was something that was easy; something that I could do with little or no struggle. Basically, I was taught that for something to be won, it must be hard won. Can you give up your ideas of lack and competition and en-joy the world? Can you look upon the entire world as your family and participate in everything, even sorrow, with compassion and love and an open heart?

When you feel good, are in the moment and are creating your life as you want it, you’re in sacred space. Joseph Campbell defines sacred space as any place where you’re hermetically sealed off from the world. This can be a room, or an activity, or just a state of mind. But the idea is that when you’re in sacred space, whatever you’re doing becomes a meditation. Your actions are coming from your soul, your mind is neutral and open and so it projects perfectly the light within you and you feel good. Time seems to fall away and you feel charged. This is sacred space and it’s a metaphor for the soul. The soul is sacred space. Campbell says that whenever he would have to travel, he preferred a standard, no-frills room. As soon as he took his books out and put them on the table, the place became his– a metaphor for his sacred space. (more…)

This is not at all like east coast rappers vs. west coast rappers, to be clear.
The first three chakras are often referred to as ‘the lower triangle.’ The heart is the fourth chakra where everything ‘bends’ as it were. Then there are the upper three chakras, often referred to as ‘the upper triangle.’
Chakras have basic archetypes:
- Survival
- Creativity & Sexuality
- Will power - Core directive power
- The heart - Compassion & Love
- The Power of spoken word - Throat
- Intuition & Wisdom - Third eye
- Humility & Divinity - Crown
- The Aura - Radiance of the True personality
The lower three correspond to earthly issues: Survival, creativity, and will power. (more…)

I don’t know about that title. It just seemed a little too heavy leaving it at “On Depression.” Anyway…
Depression is a feeling of hopelessness created by lack of movement or stagnation. It’s feeling of being stuck which leads to an attitude of ‘what’s the use?’ This is happening more and more because of the digital age. Information is so instant that we run around trying to keep up with all the stimuli presented us. The mind releases a thousand thoughts with each blink of the eyes, which means most subtle chains of thought don’t even register consciously. When we try to keep up with all the various stimuli bombarding us, it scatters the mind. (more…)

*Wahe (Wha-hay) means “Wow” or “Ecstacy.” It’s sort of an exclamation of the joy of existence. Guru (goo-roo) means that force which brings one from darkness into light.
‘Gu’ means darkness and ‘Ru’ means light. So Gu-Ru is basically the transformation from dark to light, which is why we have associated the word with ‘enlightened’ or masterful individuals. We call someone a ‘guru’ when they have mastered their profession or area of expertise. However these words are so much more than simply a title or an idea. By speaking or chanting the word one creates the sound vibration, which awakens the force of the guru in all of us. Some consider this the higher self. It’s the perfect and complete version of yourself informing you in every moment. Speaking the words Wahe Guru will create a vibration which will dispel darkness from you and bring you into the light of your Soul. Another way of looking at it is that chanting the mantra is like dialing a phone number to your higher self. (more…)

All yoga is designed to raise the kundalini energy. What’s that saying, “All rivers lead to the ocean?”
Yoga gives you an activity, which stops the mind and allows your energy to flow. A very sohpisticated technology of the physical body and energy system, it allows you to open the energy channels of the physical body so that you can sit and breathe– meditation. (more…)

“Life is nothing but Alertness. You can only be Alert if you are wise & disciplined.” –Yogi Bhajan

Mudra: Sit with a straight spine, chin in, chest out. Bend the elbows into the sides of the body, and place the palms in front of the diaphragm area, flat and face up. Criss cross the finger area only, left on bottom, right on top. The thumbs will be extended away from the rest of the hand, and point straight ahead.
